October 2004 Newsletter

Hello!

It has been quite a while since we published a newsletter. We have been involved with many family activities this past spring and throughout the summer and early fall. Two of our grandchildren, Hannah and Sterling, spent the summer at our home. We all had a wonderful memory-making time and Grandma got tons of hugs--never enough, but I loved each one. Our daughter, Tracy, is expecting her first baby (due sometime in December), and we know for sure that it is a boy.

In between all of our family concerns we have been busy filling retail and wholesale orders and trying from one month to the next to get this newsletter ready to send to my able editor, Barbara Brabec. (Her home-business books have been helpful to me through the years, and you’ll find a wealth of home-business information and articles on her Web site at http://www.barbarabrabec.com

Well, since you are reading this now, it means it is on site and has been sent to my wonderful and faithful mailing list. Note that the members of our mailing list are eligible to receive specials not advertised to the general public (one of the perks that only newsletter subscribers are entitled to), so if you’re not on our mailing list now subscribe now!

Spotlighting Special People

Diane Trapasso

“My husband of 31 years, Joe, and I are currently living in Brandon, Mississippi. We are originally from Massachusetts, and came to Mississippi for Joe’s job with Raytheon Company in 2000 (he is a Program Manager). I am currently employed as an Executive Assistant for a local company.

“I have two sons, Derek and Matthew. Derek and his wife, Nimmi, are both medical doctors, currently completing their third year of Residency at Albany Medical Center. Matthew is a correspondence specialist for Minority Leader Senator David Patterson (New York State Senate) and is also enrolled in a Masters Degree program at the University of New York at Albany. “If it seems odd that both my sons have attended school and are currently working in Albany, New York, there is a very simple explanation. We lived in Lenox, Massachusetts (The Berkshires) for 21 years before leaving for Mississippi, and Albany is less than an hour away.

“I enjoy a variety of activities, many involved with decorating my home (as you can tell by my use of Cinna-minnies). I collect Norman Rockwell plates and prints (probably the result of having lived next door to Stockbridge, Massachusetts--Rockwell’s home up to the time of his death and location of the Norman Rockwell Museum), as well as Hummels, dolls (Lizzie High and Attic Babies), and occasional pieces of antique furniture. Joe and I also enjoy traveling, something we haven’t been able to do too much of lately, but we did manage to take our first cruise last October and had a wonderful time.

“I found Cinna-minnies quite by accident in 2002 when I was trying to find some gingerbread-type ornaments to pass out as favors at our company’s Christmas party. I asked Joe to help me locate a website where I could buy some. He actually found Cinna-minnies and showed me the site. I called and asked if I could get 60 pieces in about three weeks.

“I was told that the pieces were all done individually, and that it would take months, not weeks, to get them all done. However, I personally fell in love with Cinna-minnies immediately (It was truly “love at first sight!”), and placed my first order. I’ve always had a love for gingerbread pieces, and, for me, Cinna-minnies is Gingerbread Heaven!

“I love the uniqueness of each piece, the attention to detail, and the little accessories that make each piece special. I’m especially fond of the aroma, and love that first whiff I get when unwrapping my order.

“Rochelle has become a dear, long-distance friend. We exchange notes, and she always manages to surprise me with something special in each of my orders. I always get a happy feeling when I visit the website; it ‘makes my day’.

“Thank you, Rochelle, for creating Cinna-minnies and brightening up my life!!!”

The Primary Children’s Medical Center

The Festival of Trees!

The Festival of Trees comes once a year to the Salt Lake City area. It is a group that has founded a wonderful charity as well as a wonderful way to start off the Christmas season. The Festival of Trees consists of some 600 trees in different themes and sizes, each decorated to suit the person to whom the tree is dedicated--usually someone who has passed on from a illness of some sort.

Once the trees are all decorated, there is a private auction where each tree is put on display for organizations, companies, and individuals to bid on and purchase. The money is then funded to the Primary Children’s Medical Center to help families with treatment, medical costs, etc. This has helped a lot of families is such a wonderful charity to be involved with. I believe also that it begins the healing process and it continues on through the Festival of Trees!
